US convention season set to begin, with (virtual) spotlight on Biden

As Democrats on Monday open an unprecedented virtual convention, the party’s disparate factions are projecting a united front behind Joe Biden, brought together by their common determination to oust Donald Trump in November’s election.

“It is absolutely imperative that Donald Trump be defeated,” Bernie Sanders, a former Biden rival and a keynote speaker on the event’s opening night, said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”

Adding to the drama, the four-day convention — originally planned for the Midwestern city of Milwaukee but forced to go online by the COVID-19 pandemic — takes place amid a furor over Trump’s efforts to limit mail-in voting.

Anyone interested in product design has likely heard of the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) traditionally held in famous Las Vegas, Nevada. On the other hand, it means preparing to observe, disseminate information, and make purchasing decisions entirely online.

Traditionally, the show is set up like any other type of trade exhibition, with rows of booths manned by product specialists ready

Barbie launches ‘Campaign Team’ doll set featuring a black woman as a presidential candidate

Barbie has released a new 2020 “Campaign Team” set, which features a black doll as a presidential candidate.

While the current US presidential nominees are both white men, toy company Mattel is hoping to nurture the dreams of young girls that they could one day become the first female president.

The new launch features four dolls who each have roles within the campaign and election process, including a black presidential candidate dressed in a pink blazer who comes holding a microphone.

The other dolls are also all women, including a campaign manager, a fundraiser, and a voter.

Mattel said the set aims to “expose girls to public leadership roles and pique their interest in shaping the future”.

“Since 1959, Barbie has championed girls and encouraged them to be leaders whether in the classroom, community or someday, of the country,” said Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and global head of Barbie
