Fishburne, who has been acting since childhood, began his career on the ABC soap opera, One Life to Live. One of his best younger roles was in the 1970s movie, Cornbread, Earl, and Me.

Since the 1970s, Fishburne has appeared on stage and screen. He was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Ike Turner opposite Angela Bassett in What’s Love Got to Do with It?

Fishburne called Morpheus “probably the role that I’ll be best remembered for, which is great; it’s not the only thing I’ll be remembered for, which is better.”

The Matrix 4 is currently being filmed in Berlin. The film, directed by Lana Wachowski, is rumored to be a continuation of “The Matrix Online,” the multi-player game inspired by the movie. In the game, Morpheus is killed which may explain his absence from the fourth installment of the movie franchise.

Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett-Smith are reprising their roles from the original trilogy, and the film has added big names such as Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Neil Patrick Harris.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Hollywood shutdown, The Matrix 4’s release was pushed back to spring 2022.
